I grew up in Birmingham, AL and attended The University of Alabama. As an undergraduate and deciding between majors, I was fascinated by how different individuals are, and felt that a major in psychology would not only be interesting but the obvious choice. I quickly realized that in order to gain a deeper understanding of how the mind works and how to help others, I would need to attend graduate school at the doctoral level to feel confident in my training to help others.

Following graduation from The University of Alabama, I received my Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from Indiana State University. After training for four years at ISU, I completed my year-long American Psychological Association (APA) accredited pre-doctoral internship at the University of Massachusetts Medical School/ Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital, which is one of the oldest continuously offered internship in psychology in the country. I then completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine/ Grady Health System, which has been in existence since 1979.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring the outdoors with my chocolate lab and husband. I also enjoy traveling as much as possible to learn about different cultures and exploring the different cuisines of the world.
